Enthusiasm : The dictionary meaning of this ten letter word describes "A state of heightened proactiveness" shown by people for achieving their goals and meeting the targets in stipulated time or before.
But, for a mortal being like me Enthusiasm has always been what Shammi Kapoor had shown in his movie 'Junglee' while jumping of snow yelling at the top of his voice " Yahoooooo". The enthusiasm to convince his girl to accept his proposal of love. And when we say " Yahoo" we must not forget the industry that has this word as a name of a company that is a stalwart in this industry....The "Information Technology" Industry or The I.T. Industry..
This post is the experience of a fictional character named T-800 with this particular industry spreading over a span of four years . Two years of experience and two years of cursing for making him wait and waste his time during the ravage of the recession. His experience is another part of a long story and would be mentioned somewhere later on a different day.
This post of mine is in "Loving memory of "What T-800 a.k.a The Terminator used to think as fair Judgement of work" in this industry. After completing 3 month training,T-800 joined a project that was among the largest in his company and was very happy and keen to work for a foreign company worth billion of dollars. This also is a part of another story and has no significance whatsoever to this post.
Fast Forward : Fourteen Months Later
After, completing an year toiling hard, enhancing his skills and learning ,the day arrived when T-800 was to have a discussion with his boss regarding his performance over the year,T-800 was very excited for he expected to come out as Superman waving to the cheering crowds. And so with his head held high he proudly entered the discussion room so as to hear standing ovation and round of applause. Before that ,I would like to cite that there are three kind of people who work in an I.T. industry. These are :-
1. The 'Manmohan Singh' type -These kind of employees are servile to their bosses and would do anything to appease them. They would never get off their seat till their bosses are there and also would very obediently do anything and everything to appease their bosses
2. The 'Laloo Prasad ' Type- These are the kind of employees who would embezzle on someone else's hard work and show them as their own. They come at last in the team and leave the earliest asking others to do favour. This favour done is then shown by the Laloo's as their own and they get all the appreciation for it.
3.The 'Jairam Ramesh' type- These are the employees who would toil hard and makes often the mistakes of applying their supposedly small little brains and their suggestions are often treated as Faux Pas. These employees are often asked to be like Manmohan Singh or Lalu Prasad and are often at the receiving end of the ministry. Unfortunaltely, Our very own T-800 belonged to this category.
Coming back to the discussion room,As soon as the terminator sat down to hear the words of eulogy, suddenly the "u" and the "o" skipped out of the the "Eulogy" and the expression become that of "Elegy" because the very first word that came out of the bosses' mouth was "You are not enthusisatic enough" . Flashbacks of Shammi Kapoor dancing on the snow jumping like a cat on fire came in front of the eyes of the T-800.These were followed by a little more discussion such as :
1. You are not proactive ( Do the Lalu's work)
2. You should share your learning ( Publish crap)
3. You should time and again ask what the other ministries ( The Manmohan Singh's) are doing
4. And the nail in the coffin -- You are an average worker and if not happy with your current portfolio, you can leave the ministry.
So this is how the discussion went on with the T-800 razing his musuem of hopes and inspiration. This represents the superficial picture of the murky waters through which the Jairam Ramesh's or the T-800 to survive bcoz "Inhe Ghar Jo Chalana hai sahab".
This brings an end to the post of mine in loving memory of the Jairam Ramesh and birth of the Revolutionised Lalu Prasad Yadav.
